🎖️ RCSCC WARSPITE – 83rd Annual Ceremonial Review Highlights 🎖️

Saturday, June 21st was a day of pride and celebration as the cadets of Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Warspite stood tall for our 83rd Annual Ceremonial Review.

We were honoured to welcome back Lt(N) Michelle Massel as our Reviewing Officer. A former staff member of RCSCC Warspite, it was a pleasure to have her return to review the next generation of cadets carrying the torch. In recognition of her lasting impact on the corps, we were proud to introduce a new annual award in her honour: the Lt(N) Michelle Massel Esprit de Corps Award, presented to the cadet who best embodies the spirit of camaraderie, teamwork, and pride in the corps. The first recipient of this award was Petty Officer 2nd Class Ramirez.

We were also joined by community partners, Legions, and community supporters who’ve stood beside us all year long.

🫡 Ceremonial highlights included Colours and Sunset, our Guard and Ship’s Company Inspection, a static display showcase, and an impressive drill demonstration by our 2024–2025 Drill Team.

🏅 Major Award Highlights:

  • Cadet of the Year – Leading Cadet Janzen

  • Murry Whetung Community Service Award – Master Cadet Rovskiy

  • Legion Medal of Excellence – Petty Officer 1st Class Brunet

  • Navy League Medal of Excellence, Lord Strathcona Medal, and King Charles III Coronation Medal – all awarded to Petty Officer 1st Class Miller in recognition of his outstanding leadership, community service, and dedication to the corps. The Coronation Medal was presented by LCdr Keith Miller (Detachment Commander – K-W Detachment, HMCS Star) and MP Bardish Chagger.

This was also Lt(N) Griffin’s final Annual Review as our Commanding Officer. We thank him for his incredible leadership and service to the corps.

📅 Don’t forget: our final training night of the year is this Tuesday, June 24, where we will hold our Change of Command Ceremony as Lt(N) Griffin formally passes the watch to Lt(N) Knoop.

🪦 We’re also supporting Decoration Day clean-up and ceremony with RCL Branch 126 Preston this weekend. Full details are available on our website — stay tuned for a reminder!
